We had some house guests this weekend. Good friend Debra from college and her new fiance, Jim. What a blast to see Debra after five years! Turned out that Jim grew up right around the corner from here, so we took a tour of the "neighborhood" and learned about which houses had kids that he got in fights with. More than you might think! Jim treated us to ice cream afterwards at Carvel for being such great hosts (hint hint--come visit!). Tim had been recovering from a cold he caught on his trip last week, and decided against ice cream since he was preaching the next morning and didn't want anything to build up. So he decided to order an icee-type drink thing.
"We have that?" asked the girl behind the counter.
"Umm... yeah, it's on that sign over there..." said Tim.
"No, we don't make those. What sign are you talking about?"
"This one right here?" Tim proceeded to turn around a rather large sign sitting on top of the counter so that she could see it. "You don't make these?"
"No, sorry, we don't have those."
"Okay... um, how about the smoothies." Must be a safe bet--they're actually listed on the menu, not just a sign.
"Nope, we don't make smoothies either."
Signs all around advertising both these things but he had to settle for watery gelato. Strange practice to advertise something you don't have, wouldn't you say?
Since our house guests weren't due until sometime around 3 AM, Tim suggested that we go see The Dark Knight. Yup, opening day, and it was great. We were about fourth in line so we ended up with pretty good seats. I hear it's on IMAX too, so we might have to find somewhere to go see it again.
My mom arrives on Wednesday and the church is throwing me a baby shower on Saturday. I am one excited mama. Also, the Hobbster will be joining in the festivities. Happiness all around!
I think there was more to say, but I forget.
