closet prayers

this afternoon you found it quite amusing to try to shut yourself in your closet (mommy had to help get the doors shut all the way). you’d back yourself in there and then when they were finally closed, you’d tip your chin up so you could see through the windows and you’d get a big grin on your face.

tonight you wanted to get in your chair for dinner sooner than we were ready. then your dinner was ready a little bit before ours so that it would have time to cool. after loudly desiring after it for several minutes (it was on the table out of your reach), which included both arms out in front of you with fingers scratching the table, you bowed your head, mumbled quietly for a good minute or so, shouted a rousing “amen!” and then continued to stretch and reach for your food. it was so cute I almost gave it to you!

After dinner, when Daddy had helped you put away all your toys, you just ran in circles in the kitchen.

silly kisses

this morning you woke up by shouting “hi” and then stayed quiet and let mommy go back to sleep for a bit until you yelled “tugboat!” and you almost haven’t stopped talking all day so far. the newest thing is “uuuuuuuuuummm...” which you said while you were talking to daddy on the phone this morning. then later while reading you did it again and followed it with a very short and quiet “no.”

at lunch time you had some leftover fruit salad and ate it just like mommy would have when she was little: all the blueberries, then all the melon, then all the pineapple, then all the watermelon. in between bites you would hold your hands up to your ears and say “hi, hi, hi... no. bye... bye, bye. BYE!”

then after lunch you sat down to read and out of nowhere started sing-reading: read read babble babble toooooo meeeeeeeeeeeee! read read babble babble aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAH read read elmo, elmo, elmo? meeeeee! read read uuuuuuummmm, no.

then when I put you in your crib for a nap, we had been giving kisses, and you stood right back up and held you mouth open saying “aaaaah” and kissed me “maaaa!” then flopped down to go to sleep. mommy needed one more kiss and you knew it.

extra silly today.

gangster crayon-user

you spent most of this morning in your pjs (until about 11:30), with one leg hiked up like a thug. you sort of colored with crayons while daddy and I ate breakfast. Daddy showed you how to make circles with the round end of the crayon, but you just thought it was cool to press the pointy end into the paper and listen for the snapping sound when you pulled it off. later on after we got you dressed in a shiny basketball uniform type outfit, you must have run at least 30 laps around the couch. all hot and sweaty afterwards too. the hole in the shirt was a little small so it was quite fun trying to get it over your head, and I'm sure it will be interesting trying to get it off! (edit: it was!)

conversations

today we went over to the Misiak’s and you were sort of whiny. but then Ted came in and you had a big story to tell him, hand gestures and all. I’m pretty sure you talked for 15 minutes. and then he played with you until it was time to go. you especially liked the magnets on their fridge and the mini trampoline.

of tonka trucks and fish faces

today we built a tunnel with your mega-bloks and you drove the tonka cars and trucks through it into a basket on the the other side of the table. you'd get really frustrated when they cars didn't roll straight and wouldn't make it all the way through. But once all the cars were in the basket, you'd lift it up, dump it out on the table and start it all over again.

you were video chatting with Nana later in the afternoon and we got out your animal book. I went through the noises with you, and then you started doing it yourself. and you did everything, including the fish face! it was the cutest thing to see you try to move your little mouth like we do. You've got the lion (growling), the chimp (oo-aa-ing), the cow (mooing), the owl (hooing), the kitten (mewing), and chicks (cheeping, although it sounds like deet deet deet!) all down pat, and sometimes the dog (woofing). you do the frog (ribbit)--including hopping your finger around your belly and on the book--and the pig (oink) too but they don’t sound quite right--definitely Tim-ized. your favorite though is the bee (buzzing)--you get a big smile on your face and move your pinched together thumb and forefinger all around your chest and belly while making the buzzing noise.
